Science fiction literature in Taiwan

Abstract:

Mým cílem byl pokus o zmapování postavení a vývoje vědecko-fantastické literatury na Taiwanu. Snažila jsem se o vytvoření stručného přehledu její historie a vlivů, které na ni pusobily. Zmiňuji také nejvýznačnější osobnosti taiwanské sci-fi a jejich snahu o kategorizaci vědecko-fantastické literatury. Čerpala jsem z dostupných zdrojů - tj. knižní publikace, časopisy, internet. Mou snahou byla přehledná prezentace získaných faktů. Dospěla jsem k závěru, že přestože je sci-fi stále záležitostí několika málo nadšenců, pomalu se dostává do podvědomí řadového Taiwance, který však stále dává přednost zahraniční a filmové produkci

Abstract:

In this paper I try to find out more about the position and development of science fiction literature in Taiwan. My aim is to create a concise overview of its history and influences. I mention the most important figures of taiwanese sci-fi as well as their efforts on sci-fi categorization. I used all the available resources - books, magazines, internet. I made an effort to create a general presentation of the acquired facts. I came to the conclusion that despite a scarce popularity of science fiction fans, the regular Taiwanese are slowly beginning to accept it, although they still prefer foreign and film production
