OFDM Signal Simulation and Experimental Characterization of Radio Signal Propagation in Indoor Environments

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na analýzu šíření OFDM signálu ve vnitřních prostorách a venkovním prostředí s odrazy. Jsou zde popsány vybrané způsoby modelování šíření signálu pomocí empirických, semi-empirických a deterministických metod. Teoretická část popisuje problematiku šíření OFDM a PSK signálu s velkou šířkou pásma ve vnitřních prostorách s využitím vektorového generátoru a signálového analyzátoru. Součástí je také návrh měřící sestavy (přístrojového vybavení, antény) pro měření signálu odraženého od překážek vzdálených jednotky až desítky metrů od vyzařovací antény. V praktické části je provedena simulace šíření signálu a reálné generování a příjem signálů, výsledky softwarových simulací jsou porovnány s generovanými signály v časové a frekvenční oblasti. Odrazná překážka, např. stěna budovy je simulována pomocí koutového odražeče. Na základě zaznamenaných a simulovaných signálů je určena vzdálenost překážky a chyba v určení vzdálenosti.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on analysis of the OFDM signal propagation in indoor and outdoor environments with reflections. Selected methods of signal propagation modelling using empirical, semi-empirical and deterministic methods are described in the first part of thesis. The theoretical part describes also the propagation of PSK and OFDM wideband signals in indoor areas using a vector generator and signal analyzer and equipments for measuring the signal reflected from barriers tens of meters from the antenna. The practical part deals with a simulation of signal propagation and generating and reception of signals in the laboratory, software simulation results are compared with the generated signals in the time and frequency domain. Reflecting barriers, for example building wall, are simulated by corner reflector. The distance of barriers and the distance error are determined on the basis of the real signals.
