Board games as a tool for developing children's mathematical preliteracy in heterogeneous kindergarten classes

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je sestavit soubor stolních her, které budou vhodné pro předškolní děti a zároveň budou podporovat rozvoj jejich předmatema-tických představ. Vhodnost vybraných her poté výzkumně ověřit v prostředí heterogenní třídy v mateřské škole. Výzkumné ověření provést v heterogenní třídě po dobu dvou měsíců. Každý týden nabízet jednu novou hru k seznámení a vyzkoušení v rámci centra aktivit: Manipulační a stolní hry. Poslední 2 až 3 týdny výzkumného ověření nabídnout všechny hry, aby bylo patrné, jaký je zájem dětí o konkrétní hru. Výzkumné ověření natočím na kameru, aby byly zachyceny interakce mezi dětmi v průběhu hry. Dále budou nahrávány rozhovory prováděné s dětmi po dohrání her. V teoretické části je uvedena charakteristika dítěte předškolního věku a předškolní vzdě-lávání s důrazem na předmatematické představy. Výsledky výzkumu budou poskytovat důležité informace o efektivitě těch-to her při rozvíjení matematické pregramotnosti u předškolních dětí v hete-rogenním prostředí mateřské školy. Seznam her by mohl sloužit učitelům mateřské školy a na základě svých osobních zkušeností by si jej mohli dále rozšiřovat.

Abstract:

The goal of the bachelor thesis is to compile a set of board games suitable for preschool children while also supporting the development of their pre-mathematical concepts. The suitability of the selected games will then be empirically verified in the environment of a heterogeneous kindergarten class. The research will be conducted in a heterogeneous class over a peri-od of two months. Each week, a new game will be introduced for acquain-tance and testing within the activity center focused on manipulative and board games. In the last 2-3 weeks of the research, all games will be offe-red to observe the children's interest in each specific game. The research will be recorded on camera to capture interactions among children during gameplay. Interviews with children will also be recorded after playing the games. The theoretical part will characterize preschool-age children and preschool education, with an emphasis on pre-mathematical concepts. The results of the research will provide important information about the effectiveness of these games in developing mathematical and pre-literacy skills in preschool children within a heterogeneous kindergarten environ-ment. The list of games could serve kindergarten teachers, who based on their personal experiences, may further expand it.
