Abstract:

Vzhledem k tomu, že početnost rysa ostrovida (Lynx lynx) v České republice je nízká a v posledních letech opět klesá, je nutné poznat všechny vlivy, které negativně ovlivňují rozšíření a populační dynamiku tohoto druhu. Znalost jeho prostorového chování je nezbytná pro vhodnou ochranu rysa a péči o tento druh. Rys obývá rozsáhlá území a žije skrytým způsobem života, proto je obtížné získat informace o jeho prostorovém chování. Jednou z možností jak tyto informace získat je GPS telemetrie, která nám umožňuje nepřetržité dálkové sledování označeného jedince. V bakalářské práci jsem se zaměřila na odhad velikosti domovského okrsku pomocí GPS telemetrie. Výzkum probíhá v CHKO Beskydy od začátku roku 2011 až do současnosti (tj. květen 2013). Vysílačkami byli prozatím označeni dva rysi – samice a samec. Velikost jejich domovských okrsků byla odhadnuta pomocí dvou různých metod – Minimum convex polygon a Kernel. Výsledky prokázaly, že velikost domovského okrsku samice je výrazně menší než u samce. Dále byly zaznamenány sezónní rozdíly, které ukazují, že domovský okrsek je největší v jarním období při hledání partnera pro reprodukci.

Abstract:

In view of the fact that the abundance of the European lynx (Lynx lynx) is low and has been decreasing during last few years in the Czech Republic, it is necessary to identify all factors negatively influencing the distribution and population dynamics of this species. The knowledge of its spatial behaviour is necessary for appropriate conservation and management of this species. Lynx occupies large areas and has a hidden way of life and that is why it is difficult to obtain enough data about its spatial behaviour. The GPS telemetry, which enables long continuous monitoring of marked individuals, represents a unique way to gain these data. In my thesis I focused on the lynx home range estimation using data obtained by the GPS telemetry. The research has been carried out in PLA Beskydy from the beginning of 2011 till present (May 2013). Up to date two lynxes, one male and one female, have been caught and marked with the GPS collars. A size of their home ranges was estimated using two different methods - Minimum convex polygon and Kernel estimation. The results showed that the female home range was much smaller than the male home range. Furthermore, we observed seasonal variation in home range sizes, showing that home ranges of both sexes were the largest during the reproduction period in spring.
