Prostorová distribuce vodních bezobratlých krenálních stanovišť: variabilita a ekologické vztahy na malé škále

Spatial distribution of aquatic invertebrates of crenal habitats: variation and ecological relationships at a small scale

Abstract:

Prameny jsou unikátními biotopy, které i přes vysokou stanovištní a druhovou diverzitu stojí v rámci výzkumu sladkovodních ekosystémů stále spíše na okraji zájmu. Jak pro ochranu a zachování biodiverzity těchto biotopů, tak pro testování obecných ekologických principů je zásadní znalost vztahů mezi faktory prostředí a společenstvy krenálních stanovišť. Z tohoto hlediska je klíčové zejména studium faktorů působících na malých (tj. lokálních a regionálních) prostorových škálách, které přímo ovlivňují strukturu biotických společenstev. Předkládaná práce si klade za cíl popsat vztahy mezi distribucí společenstev vodních bezobratlých a podmínkami prostředí působícími na malých škálách pramenných slatinišť, a to jak v rámci mikrostanovišť jedné lokality (tj. na lokální škále), tak mezi lokalitami dané oblasti (tj. na regionální škále). Součástí disertace jsou čtyři vědecké studie publikované v impaktovaných časopisech. V první studii bylo potvrzeno, že prostorová heterogenita podmínek prostředí je významným faktorem určujícím distribuci makrozoobentosu na malých škálách pramenných slatinišť. Byla také prokázána významnost odděleného testování jednotlivých taxonomických skupin makrozoobentosu při studiu vlivů gradientů podmínek prostředí, kdy odpovědi jednotlivých taxocenóz na prostorově heterogennějším slatiništi byly vysoce variabilní a významně se lišily od odpovědi celkového společenstva. Druhá studie se zaměřuje na společenstvo mikroorganismů slatinišť, a to zejména na krytenky (Testacea) a vířníky ze skupiny točivek (Monogononta). Společenstvo mikroorganismů bylo primárně řízeno gradientem minerální bohatosti a druhým nejvýznamnějším faktorem byla vlhkost, která ovlivňovala distribuci mikroorganismů na mikrostanovištní úrovni. Tato studie přispěla k poznání ekologických nároků slatiništních mikroorganismů nejen ve vztahu k abiotickým podmínkám prostředí, ale také ve vztahu k biotickým interakcím, jejichž vliv byl patrný zejména v prostředí kyselých přechodových rašelinišť. Ve třetí studii bylo hlavním cílem testovat vliv gradientu minerální bohatosti na společenstvo dvoukřídlých, u kterého vliv tohoto faktoru dosud nebyl prokázán. Bylo zjištěno, že gradient minerální bohatosti společně se změnami v charakteru substrátu dna tvořily komplexní environmentální gradient, který byl dominantním prediktorem strukturujícím společenstva dvoukřídlých pramenných slatinišť. Úkolem čtvrté studie bylo srovnat druhovou diverzitu společenstev makrozoobentosu mezi dvěma kontrastními stanovišti pramenných slatinišť, tj. v rámci jednotlivých lokalit. Výsledky ukázaly, že stejná úroveň beta diverzity může být dosažena rozdílnými mechanismy (výměnou druhů nebo změnami v druhové bohatosti), a to dokonce na velmi malé prostorové škále, kde nehrají roli různé disperzní schopnosti organismů testovaných společenstev.

Abstract:

Springs are unique and diverse biotopes supporting the occurence of a high number of species, yet they still receive less attention than the other types of freshwater biotopes. The understading of the crenal species responses to environmental variables is important not only for the biodiversity conservation and spring restoration, but also for the testing of general ecological theories. Therefore, a study of small-scale variables directly affecting the structure of biotic assemblages is a key challenge for the spring biotope research. This thesis aims to describe small-scale distribution patterns of aquatic invertebrates among spring fen microhabitats (i.e. at the local scale) and among spring fen sites of one region (i.e. at the regional scale). The thesis consists of four ISI publications. In the first study we found that spatial heterogeneity in environmental conditions is an important factor that controls macroinvertebrate within-site distribution in spring fens. This study also stresses the importance of segregating the responses of individual macroinvertebrate groups when studying species distribution patterns even within a single habitat. Responses of individual groups were highly variable at environmentally more heterogeneous spring fen site. The second study is focused on spring fen microorganism assemblages, testate amoebae (Testacea) and monogonont rotifers (Monogononta). The assemblages primarily changed in relation to the mineral richness gradient; moisture was the second most important factor structuring microorganism assemblages among microhabitats. This publication contributes to the knowledge on habitat preferences of spring fen assemblages and raises the question on the importance of biotic interactions for the structuring of such microorganism assemblages. The main aim of the third study was to test the effect of the mineral richness gradient on dipteran assemblages of spring fens. We found that the mineral richness gradient along with substratum properties created a complex environmental gradient that was the main environmental control structuring dipteran assemblages in spring fens. In the fourth study we aimed to provide new information on species diversity of three invertebrate groups at a small, within-site spatial scale. The study was conducted at spring fen sites where two contrasting mesohabitats, a flowing-water and a standing-water, can be clearly distinguished. The results indicated that the same amount of beta diversity can be promoted by two essentially different mechanisms (species replacement and richness differences), even at a fine spatial scale with no dispersal limitation involved.
