Influence of the method "Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment" on the advancement of cognitive functions of children

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vlivem metody Feuersteinovo instrumentální obohacování na kognitivní funkce u žáků prvního stupně ZŠ. Jejím cílem je analyzovat její vliv a přínos pro děti ohrožené školním neúspěchem. Teoretická část obsahuje stručné vymezení legislativního rámce školního vzdělávání a poradenského systému v České republice, vymezuje pojmy z oblasti vzdělávání, poradenství a diagnostiky. Dále nás seznamuje s metodou Feuersteinovo instrumentální obohacování. Představuje kognitivní funkce a jejich deficity, parametry kognitivní mapy, principy zkušenosti zprostředkovaného učení, cíle a charakteristiku metody. Praktická část prezentuje výzkumné šetření, které analyzuje přínos metody Feuersteinovo instrumentální obohacování u dětí ohrožených školním neúspěchem. V kvalitativní studii se snaží zmapovat změny, ke kterým došlo ve sledovaných oblastech u žáků vesnické malotřídky v době trvání studie. Sledovali jsme proměny v projevech kognitivních funkcí, ve verbálním projevu a v regulaci impulzivity. Kvalitativní zhodnocení práce v průběhu intervence i kvalitativní zhodnocení testů LPAD ukázaly zlepšení ve všech sledovaných oblastech.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with influence of the Feuerstein method of instrumental enrichment on cognitive function in primary school pupils. The aim of this thesis is to analyse its influence and benefits for children at risk of school failure. The theoretical part contains a brief definition of legislative framework of school education and counseling system in the Czech Republic, defines the terms of area of education, counseling and diagnostics. Further the diploma thesis also introduces Feuerstein´s instrumental enrichment method. It presents cognitive functions and their deficits, parameters of cognitive map, principles of experience of mediated learning, objectives and characteristics of the method. The practical part presents a research study that analyses the contributions of the Feuerstein instrumental enrichment method in children threatened by school failure. In a qualitative study it tried to map out the changes that occurred in the studied areas in the pupils of the small village class during the duration of the study. We followed up the changes in the manifestations of cognitive functions, verbal expression and impulse control. The qualitative evaluation of the work during the intervention as well as the qualitative evaluation of the LPAD tests showed improvement in all the monitored areas.
