The Burn-out Syndrome Prevention in the Informal Health Care in a Long-term Care for Pensioners

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá prevencí syndromu vyhoření u neformálních pečujících v dlouhodobé péči o seniory. Cílem práce je analyzovat možnosti prevence syndromu vyhoření u neformálních pečujících v dlouhodobé péči o seniory ve vybraném regionu. Teoretická část práce se zabývá syndromem vyhoření a jeho prevencí, problematikou neformálních pečujících a neformální péče, včetně objasnění terminologie stáří a stárnutí. Výzkumná část práce navazuje na teoretické poznatky. Cílem výzkumné části práce bylo zjistit, zda neformální pečující v dlouhodobé péči o seniory ve vybraném regionu trpí syndromem vyhoření a pokud ano, zjistit, co by jim v péči mohlo pomoci, pokud ne, zjistit, co dělají proto, že péči zvládají. Výzkumné šetření bylo realizováno formou smíšeného výzkumu. Na základě analýzy dat ze standardizovaného dotazníku BM psychického vyčerpání a polostrukturovaných rozhovorů byl odhalen výskyt syndromu vyhoření až u 70 % dotazovaných. Dále byly analyzovány možnosti předcházení vzniku syndromu vyhoření u neformálních pečujících v dlouhodobé péči o seniory.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with burn-out prevention by informal caregivers who take care of pensioners in the long term. The aim of this work is to analyze possibilities of burn-out prevention by informal caregivers, who take care of pensioners in a selected region in the long term. The theoretical part deals with the burn-out syndrome, with its prevention and an issue of informal caregivers and caregiving, including clarification of terminology of old age and aging. The practical part relates to theoretical findings. The aim of the research part is to determine, if informal caregivers who take care of pensioners in the long term in a selected region suffer from the burn-out syndrome. If they do suffer, the work determines which means might help them in their work, and if they do not suffer from the burn-out syndrome, the work determines what helps them to manage their work. The research is carried out in the form of mixed methods design. On the basis of a data analysis of a standardised questionnaire, the Burnout Measure (BM), and semi-structured interviews it is discovered that up to 70% of questioned informal caregivers suffer from the burn-out syndrome. The work also analyzes possibilities of burn-out prevention by informal caregivers in the long-term care of pensioners.
