Vocational identity development of psychology students during studies

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vývojem profesní identity studentů psychologie v průběhu studia. Hlavním cílem práce je analýza tohoto vývoje u studentů psychologie a stanovení kategorií, reprezentujících tento rozvoj. V teoretické části této práce je vymezena psychologie jako vědní i praktický obor. Dále následuje popis vynořující se dospělosti, jakožto období, které se týká zkoumané skupiny respondentů. Poslední část teoretického bloku je zaměřená na definování profesní identity, jejího vývoje a funkce. Empirická část se věnuje analýze přepisů polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se se studenty psychologie, za pomocí metody zakotvené teorie. Metodou otevřeného kódování byly stanoveny 4 výsledné kategorie, reprezentující rozvoj profesní identity u studentů psychologie v průběhu studia. Těmito čtyřmi výslednými kategoriemi jsou motivace k výběru oboru, osobnostní rozvoj, vývoj obrazu oboru a budoucí směřování v profesi.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with vocational identity development of psychology students during their studies. The main goal of this work is to analyze this development and to determine the categories representing this development. Theoretical part defines psychology as a scientific and practical field. The following is a description of the emerging adulthood, as a period that concerns the examined group of respondents. Last part of the theoretical block is focused on defining vocational identity, its development and function. Empirical part is devoted to the analysis of transcripts of semi-structured interviews with students of psychology, using the method of grounded theory. Using the open coding method, 4 final categories were determined, representing the development of professional identity in psychology students during their studies. These four final categories are motivation to choose the field, personal development, development of the image of the field and future direction in the profession.
