Advantages and disadvantages of the Norway model of EU relationship arrangement and its possible use by Great Britain after Brexit

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zmapování ekonomik Velké Británie a Norska, jakožto dvou zemí, které mohou po ukončení všech jednání o brexitu mít více podobností než doposud, a vyhodnotit, zda je pro Norsko jeho aktuální pozice setrvávat mimo EU výhodná a zda by byla taková pozice výhodná i pro Velkou Británii. V první části práce je popsáno členství obou zemí ve vybraných institucích evropské ekonomické integrace a průběh i příčiny brexitu, včetně možných modelů nastavení vztahů Velké Británie s EU po uskutečnění brexitu. Druhá část práce se zaměřuje již na samotnou analýzu výhod a nevýhod spjatých s aktuálním postavením Norska mimo EU a následně je hodnoceno, zda by byl norský model výhodný i pro Velkou Británii.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the economies of Great Britain and Norway, as two countries that can have more similarities after ending the negotiations about Brexit and evaluate whether the current position of Norway to stay outside the EU is advantageous or not and also analyze if this position would be advantageous for Great Britain after Brexit. First part of the thesis is dedicated to the introduction of Norway and Great Britain and their participation in European integration and then to description of causes and development of Brexit. Second part analyzes the norway model and evaluates its advantages and disadvantages it has from the Norwegian perspective and then from the potential British perspective.
