The presentation of technical contents in magazines for children and the youth

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the topic how can be technical contents mediated in magazines for children and the youth. Attention is paid to visual and verbal language as well as their combination. The research consist of two magazines for children and the youth. The theoretical part describes the most important characteristics of these magazines and of the language, which is used in the mentioned media. The empirical part presents research focusing on both ways of using visual material und the possible methods of explanations of technical terms in nonfiction texts.

Abstract:

Předložená práce se zabývá tématem zprostředkování odborných obsahů v časopisech pro děti a mládež. Pozornost je věnována jak vizuální a verbální složce jazyka, tak jejich kombinaci. Výzkumný korpus tvoří dva časopisy určené pro děti a mládež. V teoretické části jsou uvedeny nejdůležitější charakteristiky dětských časopisů a jazyka, kterého je v daných médiích využíváno. Empirická část představuje výzkum zaměřující se jak na způsoby využití obrazového materiálu, tak na možnosti vysvětlení odborných výrazů v daných populárně naučných textech.
