Contemporary far right in France

Abstract:

Tato práce si klade za cíl zmapovat působení menších politických subjektů krajní pravice ve Francii od počátku 90. let do současnosti. Je zaměřená na Národní republikánské hnutí (Mouvement national républicain, MNR), Sdružení pro Francii (Rassemblement pour la France, RPF), Hnutí pro Francii (Mouvement pour la France, MPF) a nakonec hnutí Lov, rybolov, příroda a tradice (Chasse, peche, nature et tradition, CPNT). První část se zabývá širším pohledem na fungování politických stran, politologickému vymezení krajní pravice jako takové a pojednání o krajně pravicové stranické rodině. Druhá část se věnuje pozici krajní pravice ve francouzském politickém systému (bližší pojednání také o Národní frontě) - jejich etablování a posilování. Následuje rozbor a popis výše uvedených subjektů - u všech je zmiňovaná geneze a vývoj, účast a úspěšnost ve volbách (prezidentských, parlamentních, evropských a regionálních) a jejich interpretace. Dále je se práce zaměřuje na program. Analýza je zakončená jejich pozicí ve stranickém systému Francie a srovnáním výsledků s parlamentní pravicí. Na závěr práce shrnuje interakci těchto subjektů jak v rámci jejich stranické rodiny, tak i mimo ni. Celá práce je zakončená zmapováním jejich programových podobností a rozdílů.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to chart the activity of small extreme right-wing parties in France since the beginning of the 1990s until today. It focuses on National republican movement (Mouvement national républicain, MNR), Association for France (Rassemblement pour la France, RPF), Movement for France (Mouvement pour la France, MPF), and movement Hunting, fishing, nature and tradition (Chasse, peche, nature et tradition, CPNT). The first part includes a general overview of the functions of political parties, the definition of the extreme Right as such and defines the extreme right group of political parties. The second part focuses on the position of the extreme Right in the French political system (also deals in further detail with the National Front) – their establishment and consolidation. This is followed by an analysis and description of all the above-mentioned parties – their genesis and development, participation and success in elections (presidential, parliamentary, European and regional) and their interpretation. The next part concentrates on the parties’ political platforms. The analysis is concluded with their position in the French political-party system and by comparison of their electoral results with the results of the parliamentary Right. Then, I summarize the parties’ interaction within their political group as well as outside it. The thesis is concluded by mapping the differences and similarities in their political platforms.
