Bakteriální druhy rodu Staphylococcus jsou známé jako významné lidské a zvířecí patogeny, které způsobují řadu onemocnění - od nezávažných infekcí až po život ohrožující stavy. Bacterial species of the genus Staphylococcus are known as significant animal and human pathogens, which cause many diseases - trivial or life-threatening infections. Remarkable advances in the cure of these infections began in the 1940s, when penicillin first entered clinical use.
