The evalution of the current situation of gambling regulation in the Czech republic in comparison with some other members of the European union, especially the United kingdom

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce popisuje stav regulace hazardu především v České republice a ve Spojeném království v aktuálním období. Zabývá se hlavně legislativním rámcem hazardu a vývojem hazardního průmyslu v těchto zemích. Jsou zde analyzovány také společenské náklady a výnosy hazardu a zmíněny některé statistické údaje, které se této problematiky týkají. V práci jsou vyhodnoceny výsledky vybraných studií, které dopady hazardního hráčství na společnost přímo hodnotily. Spojené království bylo vybráno proto, že na rozdíl od České republiky zde není hazardní průmysl zcela v rukou státního aparátu, ale pod nadvládou nevládní instituce The U.K. Gambling commission, tedy Komise pro hazard Spojeného království. V práci bylo zjištěno, že státem téměř neregulované hazardní prostředí ve Spojeném království vykazuje podstatně lepší výsledky než hazardní průmysl v České republice.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis describes the current state of gambling regulation mostly in the Czech republic and in the United kingdom. One of the main topics is the legislation framework of gambling in these two countries. It also analyzes the social costs and benefits of gambling and mentions some statistical data. There are also evaluations of results of some studies, that were studying the actual social impacts of gambling on people. The United kingdom was chosen, because their gambling industry is not controlled by the government, like in the Czech republic. It is controlled by non-governmental institution called The U.K. Gambling commission. This thesis proves that the non-state regulated gambling environment in the United kingdom shows much better results than state regulated one in the Czech republic.
