The Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure Test in Fourteen- and Fifteen-year-old Children with Learning Disabilities

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá využitím testu Rey-Osterriethovy komplexni figury (ROCF) v diagnostice specifických poruch učení (SPU). Účelem práce je prohloubit dostupné informace o projevech dětí s SPU v kresbě ROCF, které by posléze usnadnily a zkvalitnily diagnostiku specifických poruch učení i následnou intervenci. První výzkumná část práce předkládá charakteristické projevy 14/15letých dětí s SPU v kresbě kopie ROCF vycházející ze srovnání těchto dětí s dětmi bez SPU stejného věku a dále s dětmi mladšího věku. Hodnocení kreseb kopií ROCF bylo provedeno na základě v ČR běžně používaného skórovacího systému TKF a dále na základě Bostonského skórovacího systému (BQSS), který se v ČR doposud v praxi ani ve výzkumech neobjevuje, ale nabízí z dostupných skórovacích systémů pro ROCF nejkomplexnější hodnocení kvantitativního i kvalitativního charakteru. Tyto dva skórovací systémy jsou následně v druhé výzkumné části práce porovnány a zhodnoceny v kvantitativně-kvalitativní analýze z hlediska jejich využitelnosti a přínosnosti v pedagogicko-psychologické praxi a výzkumu, se zřetelem k diagnostice SPU, a jsou navrženy změny k jejich vylepšení.

Abstract:

The dissertation deals with the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure (ROCF) Test and its use in the assessment of learning disabilities. The purpose of this work is to bring more insight into the characteristics of ROCF productions in children with learning disabilities and thus enhance the diagnostic utility of the ROCF test for these children. The study presents the specific features of ROCF copy productions in children with learning disabilities aged 14 and 15 years based on the comparison of these children to children without LD of the same age as well as of younger age. The ROCF performances were evaluated using the TKF scoring system, the only system widely used in the Czech Republic, and the Boston Qualitative Scoring System (BQSS), which has not been used in the Czech clinical or research practice but represents the most comprehensive approach to scoring the ROCF available today. The two systems are then compared and evaluated in terms of their utility in research and practice of educational psychology and special education, especially in the area of learning disabilities assessment. Suggestions are made for the improvement of the two scoring systems.
