Use of GIS technology for reconstruction of subsurface in the northern part of the Upper Moravian Graben

Abstract:

Predkládaná práce se zabývá problematikou geologického modelování a vizualizací geologických informací za využití geografických informacních systému na príkladu severní cásti Hornomoravského úvalu. V úvodu práce je v obecné rovine nastínen soucasný stav využití geoinformacních technologiích v geologických disciplínách a popsány okolnosti, jež vedly autora k rešení této problematiky. Následují cíle práce, které jsou rozepsány i do cílu dílcích. Tretí kapitola popisuje použité programové prostredky. Prostor je venován produktum firmy ESRI, v kterých byla rešena nejvetší cást práce. Popsán je i produkt firmy RockWare. Zmíneny jsou rovnež vedlejší programy sloužící sberu a správe dat. Následující kapitola se venuje vymezení zájmového území a jeho strucné charakteristice. Duraz je kladen na geologii dané oblasti. Je poukázáno na to, že se jedná o širokou protáhlou sníženinou vyplnenou neogenními a kvartérními usazeninami. V dalších kapitolách jsou popisovány teoretické aspekty práce. V kapitole šesté jsou rozebírány základní pojmy, principy a postupy, které jsou potrebné pro pochopení modelování geologických informací. Následuje kapitola s prehledem vybraných prací zabývající se digitálním zpracováním geologických dat. V podkapitole jsou popisovány i studie zpracovávané v Ceské republice. Na predkládaných studiích je dokumentován vývoj geoinformacních technologií v geologii od pocátku do soucasnosti. Hlavní cást práce tvorí kapitoly osm, devet a deset. V techto kapitolách je ukázána aplikace geoinformacních technologií do geologického modelování na príkladu rekonstrukce podloží severní cásti Hornomoravského úvalu. Osmá kapitola popisuje návrh datové struktury a její naplnení. Pri príprave dat sehrály geografické informacní systémy klícovou roli. Devátá kapitola je venována modelování a vizualizaci modelu. Je zde popsána tvorba plošných modelu i tvorba 3D modelu. Kapitola rovnež obsahuje statistické hodnocení dat a výber interpolacní metody. Prezentovány jsou geologické mapy, vrtné profily, rezy, složené rezy, modely jednotlivých stratigrafických jednotek, blokdiagramy a animace. Desátá kapitola poskytuje rozbor a hodnocení výsledku modelování a modelu geologických informací. Hodnocení se odehrává ve dvou oblastech: geoinformatiky a geologie. V rámci geoinformatiky jsou diskutována témata jako vhodnost použitých dat, vhodnost datové struktury, vhodnost softwaru a použitých metod. Z oblasti geologie je rozebírána možnost použití výsledku a metod ze strany geologu a jsou pro ne vynesena doporucení.

Abstract:

Submitted work deals with problems of geological modelling and geological information visualisation using geographic information systems on the example of the northern part of the Upper Moravian Graben. In the introductory part of the work the present state of using geoinformation technologies in geological disciplines is outlined. The circumstances which led the author to solve this problem are also described there - these circumstances are followed by the aims of work as well as the partial aims. The third chapter depicts used program means. Some area is dedicated to products made by ESRI Company. These products were used to solve the majority of work. RockWare Company product is also described. Minor programs user for data collection and administration are mentioned as well. The following chapter delimits and briefly characterizes the area of interest. The emphasis is laid on the geology of the area. It is pointed out that it is a wide long depressed area filled with Neogene and Quarternary deposits. The next chapters depict theoretical aspects of the work. The sixth chapter analyses basic terms, principles and methods which are necessary to understand modelling of geological information. The following chapter outlines selected work dealing with digital processing of geological data. Studies processed in the Czech Republic are described in the subchapter. These studies provide development of geoinformation technologies in geology from the beginning up to present. Chapters 8, 9 and 10 form the main part of the work. The application of geoinformation technologies into geological modelling is presented there on the example of subsurface reconstruction in the northern part of the Upper Moravian Graben. The eighth chapter depicts a proposal of data structure and its filling. Geographic information systems played the key role during the data preparation. The ninth chapter is dedicated to modelling and model visualization. Creation of area models and 3D models is described there. The chapter also comprises statistic data evaluation and selection of the interpolation method. Geographical maps, strip log diagrams, vertical sections, fences, models of individual stratigraphic units, block diagrams and animations are presented there. Chapter 10 provides results analysis and evaluation of modelling and models of geological information. The evaluation occurs in two areas: geoinformatics and geology. Topics as suitability of used data, suitability of data structure, suitability of software and used methods are used in fields of geoinformatics. In fields of geology the possible use of result and methods by geologists is analysed and recommended.
