Determination of the constituents of selected varieties of the genus Tagetes

Abstract:

Rod Tagetes spp. se řadí mezi nejčastěji pěstované letničky u nás. Pro svou nenáročnost při pěstování se s ním můžeme setkat jak ve veřejných výsadbách, tak v soukromém sektoru. V dnešní době se pěstuje v řadě kultivarů, které jsou, oproti původním druhům, většinou nižšího vzrůstu. Stále častěji se opět objevuje použití květů v kulinářství. Za účelem stanovení obsahových látek byly provedeny různé analýzy. Mezi zjišťované látky patří kyselina L-askorbová, pro jejíž stanovení byla použita metoda kapalinové chromatografie. Chlorofyly a, b, karotenoidy a flavonoidy byly stanoveny spektrofotometricky. Pro celkovou antioxidační kapacitu byla použita metoda DPPH. Výsledky prokázaly rozdíly v množství obsažených látek mezi kultivary a zároveň rozdíly u různých fází květu. Nejvýznamnějším druhem se ukázal T. lucida, který nejčastěji vykazoval nejvyšší množství z daných obsahových látek, zejména u antioxidační kapacity. Po porovnání s jinými testovanými ročníky bylo prokázáno, že množství obsahových látek závisí na průběhu klimatických podmínek během roku. Z naměřených hodnot lze konstatovat zdravotní prospěšnost jedlých květů.

Abstract:

The genus Tagetes is one of the most grown annual in Czech Republic. Due to its easy cultivation, it can be found both in public plantings and private sector. Nowadays it is grown in several cultivars, which are usually smaller in stature than the original species. The use of the flowers in culinary applications is becoming more and more common again. Various analyse have been carried out to determine the content substances. The substances detected include L-ascorbic acid, for the determination of which the liquid chromatography was used. Chlorophylls a, b, carotenoids and flavonoids were determined spectrophotometrically. For the total antioxidant capacity, the DPPH method was used. The results showed differences in the number of compounds contained between cultivars and also differences at different stages of flowering. T. lucida proved to be the most significant species, showing the highest amounts of the given content substances, especially for antioxidant capacity. After comparison with same cultivars tested in different year, it was shown, that the amount of the content substances depends on the climatic conditions during the year. From the measured values, the health benefits of edible flowers can be concluded.
