Amoebae are eukaryotic organisms occurring in different aquatic environments. The most studied are the genera Acanthamoeba and Naegleria, mainly because of their pathogenicity to humans. Representatives of both species cause serious diseases of the brain and moreover Acanthamoeba sp. causes even Acanthamoeba keratitis. Abstract:
Améby sú eukaryotické organizmy vyskytujúce sa v rôznych vodných prostrediach. Medzi najštudovanejšie patria rody Acanthamoeba a Naegleria, hlavne kvôli ich patogenite pre človeka. Zástupcovia oboch druhov spôsobujú závažné ochorenia mozgu a Acanthamoeba sp. navyše aj akantamébovú keratitídu. Významné sú taktiež pre ich schopnosť v sebe prenášať rôzne, aj patogénne baktérie.
