Etymology of unique components in German idioms and their translation into Czech

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with etymology of unique components in German idioms. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part there are briefly introduced two linguistic disciplines. First introduced discipline is phraseology, where is shortly described its terminology, characteristic features of phrases and their classification. Two chapters relate also to the idioms with unique components and their typology. Second introduced discipline is etymology, which description gives a short overview of evolution of German language and methods of word-formation in a language, more precisely in German. Practical part of the thesis targets 36 German idioms with unique components. Its aim it is to find out the origin of these components. The idioms are also translated into the Czech language and in case that the Czech equivalents contain unique components, their word origin is explained as well.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá etymologickým původem unikátních komponentů v německých idiomech. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část praktickou. V teoretické části jsou krátce představeny dvě jazykovědné disciplíny. První z nich je frazeologie, u které je popsána terminologie, znaky frazeologismů a jejich klasifikace. Dvě kapitoly se týkají také idiomů s unikátními komponenty a jejich typologií. Druhou disciplínou je etymologie, jejíž popis dává stručný přehled o vývoji německého jazyka a způsobech vzniku slov v jazyce, respektive v němčině. Praktická část práce se zaměřuje na 36 konkrétních německých idiomů s unikátními komponenty. Jejím cílem je zjistit etymologický původ těchto komponentů. Idiomy jsou zároveň přeloženy do českého jazyka a v případě, že české ekvivalenty obsahují unikátní komponenty, je etymologický původ vysvětlen i u nich.
