Aerophone folk instruments in permanent collection of Slovene Etnographic Museum in Ljubljana

Abstract:

V úvodu se zabývám především organologickým výzkumem lidových aerofonů ve Slovinském etnografickém muzeu v Lublani. Tato část také zahrnuje informace o stavu bádaní i o problematice lidových hudebních nástrojů ve Slovinsku. Práce pokračuje prezentací historie Slovinského etnografického muzea v Lublani a jeho sbírek, vznik sbírky hudebních nástrojů popisuji podrobněji. Hlavní část se skládá z popisu skupiny nástrojů zařazených do Hornbostel-Sachsovy systematiky hudebních nástrojů. Každý aerofon stálé sbírky Slovinského etnografického muzea v Lublani je pak zařazen do jedné z těchto skupin a je podrobně popsán. Vzhledem k tomu, že v archivu muzea nalezneme omezené množství dostupných informací, musela jsem se spolehnout i na jiné zdroje. U mnoha nástrojů byly uvedeny datum a místo výskytu, ale informace o výrobci, použitých materiálech a rozměrech jsou většinou stále neznámé. Bohužel další, podrobnější výzkum vedení muzea nepovolilo. Hudební nástroje jsou uzavřeny ve skleněných skříňkách, avšak nedostala jsem povolení je otevřít, a prohlédnout si tak nástroje zblízka. Hlavní zdroje pro můj výzkum byly, kromě muzejní databáze, ještě knihy, encyklopedie a internetové stránky.

Abstract:

The introduction is focused mainly on an organological research of the thesis and includes information from a small amount of research previously done on folk music and instruments in republic of Slovenia. Thesis continues to present the history of the museum and its collections. Specific sub-sections include in-depth information on the proprietary collection of musical instruments. The main part comprises of groups of instruments which are described and marked with Curt Sachs’ organological systematics (musical instrument classification). Each aerophone instrument is then assigned to one of these groups and is described in detail. Since the museum’s archives have limited information available at their disposal, I had to rely on other sources as well. For many instruments, their date and place of occurrence has been identified but the information about manufacturers, materials used and dimensions is for some still a mystery. Unexpectedly, permission to commit the additional, more comprehensive research was denied by the museum’s management office. Instruments on display are presented inside a glass cage which could not be removed for the sole purpose of my visit. Main sources for my research were books, the internet and miscellaneous data found in the museum’s archive.
