Abstract:
This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of major female characters in the Civil War novels Gone with the Wind (1937) written by Margaret Mitchell and Cold Mountain (1997) written by Charles Frazier. The main aim of the thesis is to analyze the transformation of white upper-class heroines from young and carefree Southern belles into hard-working women.
