The Portrayal of Famous Historical Women in Television Shows by Czech Television: Maria Therese and Božena

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá zobrazením slavných žen historie v současných seriálech České televize. Tato problematika je podrobně prozkoumána konkrétně na dvou projektech, Marii Terezii a Boženě. Cílem je blíže pochopit, jak jsou jedny z největších ženských osobností české historie chápány a co to vypovídá o vnímání žen v současném světě. Práce využívá komparační analýzy a srovnává oba projekty nejprve s historickou realitou a následně projekty mezi sebou navzájem. Zaměřuje se na hlavní postavy obou projektů, analyzuje, na co kladou důraz a proč, na kolik vychází z reality a v čem se naopak od ní odklání. Projekty jsou v lecčem sice protikladné, oba však zobrazují silnou ženskou postavu, jasně tematizují vstup ženy do mužského světa a ukazují ženský element jako něco zásadního pro naši společnost. Je tedy zřejmé, že poptávka po výrazných ženských postavách nikam v blízké době nezmizí.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the portrayal of famous women of history in contemporary Czech Television series. This issue is explored in detail, specifically on two projects, Maria Theresa and Bozena. The aim is to better understand how some of the greatest female figures in Czech history are understood and what that says about the perception of women in the contemporary world. The work uses comparative analysis to compare both projects, first with historical reality, then the individual projects with each other. It focuses on the main characters of both projects, analyzes what they emphasize and why, how much is based on reality, and where they deviate from it. Although the projects are in many ways opposites, they both depict a strong female figure, clearly thematize the entry of a woman into a man's world and show the female element as something essential for our society. It is, therefore, evident that the demand for strong female characters is not going away anytime soon.
