Impacts of digitalization on the labor market in the Czech Republic, initial period 2010-2019: opportunity or risk?

Abstract:

Diplomová práce analyzuje dopady digitalizace na trh práce v České republice v sledovaném období 2010 – 2019. Digitalizace je celospolečenský fenomén a výrazně se dotýká také trhu práce, kde výrazně mění požadavky především na stranu nabídky práce. V sledovaném období došlo k neočekávané události v podobě pandemie onemocnění COVID-19. Cílem práce je vyhodnotit dopady digitalizace na trh práce a navrhnout hospodářská doporučení, která budou negativní důsledky tlumit. Testovaná hypotéza práce je následující: „Pracovní síla v České republice není na změny v kontextu digitalizace vhodně připravena.“ Práce dochází k závěru, že digitalizace představuje pro český trh práce riziko a testovaná hypotéza byla potvrzena, kritickým místem připravenosti pracovní síly je především nízká úroveň soft skills. Práce rovněž dochází k závěru, že pandemie urychlí proces digitalizace, což však rizika zesílí. Na základě provedené analýzy byla navržena hospodářská doporučení v oblasti vzdělávání.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis analyzes the effects of digitalization on the labor market in the Czech Republic in the period 2010 – 2019. Digitalization is a society – wide phenomenon and significantly affects the labor market, where it considerably changes the requirements, especially on the labor supply side. During the observed period, an unexpected event occurred in the form of a pandemic of the COVID-19 disease. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the effects of digitalization on the labor market and to propose economic recommendations that will dampen the negative consequences. The tested hypothesis of the thesis is as follows: "The workforce in the Czech Republic is not adequately prepared for changes in the context of digitalization." The thesis concludes that digitalization represents a risk for the Czech labor market and the tested hypothesis has been confirmed, the critical point of workforce readiness is mainly the low level of soft skills. The thesis also concludes that the pandemic will accelerate the digitalization process, but this will increase the risks. Based on the performed analysis, economic recommendations in the field of education were proposed.
