Boeing 747: Icon of the Aerospace Industry and Its Global Impact on Tourism

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na komplexní analýzu letadla Boeing 747 jako ikony leteckého průmyslu a jeho významu v globálním kontextu cestovního ruchu. Práce systematicky porovnává Boeing 747 s ostatními významnými letadly, zkoumá jeho historický vývoj a posuzuje jeho současný vliv na mezinárodní letecký průmysl. Dále popisuje budoucnost Boeingu 747 v prostředí současného cestovního ruchu. První část práce se zaměřuje na historický vývoj Boeingu 747 a jeho vliv na cestovní ruch. Dále také rozebírá vybrané nehody, které významně ovlivnily vývoj bezpečnosti v letectví. Druhá část práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci hlavních ekonomických faktorů ovlivňujících provozní náklady a efektivitu Boeing 747 ve srovnání s ostatními letadly, včetně Boeing 777, Boeing 787 a Airbus 380. Dále analyzuje vývoj objednávek a dodaných kusů Boeing 747 od roku 2001 a trend jejich poptávky v konkurenci na trhu. Zhodnoceny jsou i rozdíly v kapacitě Boeing 747 pro osobní a nákladní přepravu a jejich vliv na rozhodování leteckých společností. Nakonec je analyzován dopad pandemie COVID-19 na leteckou dopravu a cestovní ruch a jeho následky pro společnost The Boeing Company. Ve výstupech práce je popsáno proč význam Boeingu 747 pro osobní přepravu upadá a jaké jsou jeho další možnosti využití pro jiné oblasti cestovního ruchu, jako například hotelnictví nebo gastronomie. Zmíněny jsou také již existující příklady těchto služeb.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the Boeing 747 as an icon of the aviation industry and its significance in the global context of tourism. The thesis systematically compares the Boeing 747 with other major aircraft, examines its historical development and assesses its current impact on the international airline industry. It also describes the future of the Boeing 747 in the contemporary tourism environment. The first part of the thesis focuses on the historical development of the Boeing 747 and its impact on the travel industry. It also discusses selected accidents that have significantly influenced the development of aviation safety. The second part of the thesis focuses on identifying the main economic factors affecting the operating costs and efficiency of the Boeing 747 compared to other aircraft, including the Boeing 777, Boeing 787 and Airbus 380. It also analyses the evolution of orders and deliveries of Boeing 747's since 2001 and the trend of their demand in a competitive market. Differences in Boeing 747 passenger and cargo capacity and their impact on airline decision-making are also evaluated. Finally, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on air travel and tourism and its implications for The Boeing Company are analyzed. The thesis concludes by describing why the Boeing 747's importance for passenger transportation is declining and what are its other potential uses for other areas of the travel industry such as the hotel and restaurant industry. Existing examples of these services are also mentioned.
