Redistributive Function of the State and its Implementation

Abstract:

Tato bakalářské práce je zaměřena na problematiku redistribuce bohatství a sociálního státu. V teoretické části je rozebrán veřejný sektor a jeho funkce, redistribuce včetně nástrojů využívaných k měření nerovností a přístupů ke spravedlivému rozdělování. Dále se zde objevuje sociální stát a jeho typologie s důrazem na typologii G. Esping-Andersena a nástroje redistribuce obsahující daňovou soustavu a sociální zabezpečení. V praktické části je vybráno pět států z představené studie, kterými jsou Belgie, Bulharsko, Česká republika, Portugalsko a Lucembursko. U těchto států jsou pomocí analýzy ukazatelů a zkoumání závislosti mezi nimi testovány vztahy ukazatelů. Ze zjištěných poznatků je formulováno shrnutí a zařazení sledových států do modelů sociálního státu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the issues of wealth redistribution and the welfare state. In the theoretical part the public sector and its functions, redistribution including tools for measuring inequality and approaches to fair distribution are discussed. Furthermore, the welfare state and its typologies are examined, with an emphasis on the typology by G. Esping-Andersen, along with redistribution tools such as the tax system and social security. In the practical part, five states are selected from the presented study: Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Portugal, and Luxembourg. The relations between indicators for these states are tested through the analysis of indicators and examination of their interdependence. Based on the findings, a summary of the observations and the categorization of the observed states into groups of welfare states is formulated.
