The gray economy in the Czech Republic in the period 2008-2018 according to the MIMIC model.

Abstract:

Šedá ekonomika je ve světě všudypřítomná a její velikost má významný dopad na státní ekonomiku. Šedou ekonomiky je ovšem velmi obtížné změřit, protože je ze své podstaty skrytá a neoficiální. Během let bylo navrženo mnoho metod jejího odhadu, a to ať už se jednalo o metody přímé jako je dotazník, nepřímé jako například rozdíl mezi národními příjmy a výdaji nebo speciální model jako například MIMIC model. Cílem této práce je zjistit velikost šedé ekonomiky v České republice pomocí modelu MIMIC a porovnat výsledky tohoto modelu při použití tří různých sérií příčin a ukazatelů inspirovaných pracemi využívající model MIMIC pro měření šedé ekonomiky v jiných oblastech a časových obdobích, a to v časovém období 2008-2018. Použita budou sekundární data čerpaná z českého statistického úřadu, české národní banky a organizace pro hospodářskou spolupráci a rozvoj. Odhad velikosti šedé ekonomiky prezentovaný v této práci je využitelný pro účinné státní řízení ekonomiky, které nezjištěná šedá ekonomika komplikuje.

Abstract:

The grey economy is ubiquitous in the world and its size has a significant impact on the state economy. However, the gray economy is very difficult to measure because it is inherently hidden and unofficial. Over the years, many methods of estimation have been proposed, whether direct methods such as a questionnaire, indirect methods such as the difference between national revenues and expenditures, or a special model such as the MIMIC model. The aim of this work is to determine the size of the gray economy of the Czech Republic in the period 2008-2018, using the MIMIC model and compare the results of this model using three different series of causes and indicators inspired by works using the MIMIC model to measure the gray economy in other areas and time periods. Secondary data drawn from the Czech Statistical Office, the Czech National Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development will be used. The estimation of the size of the grey economy presented in this work can be used for effective state management of the economy, which is complicated by the undetected gray economy.
