Intergenerational reproduction of educational inequalities

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice mezigenerační reprodukce vzdělanostních nerovností. Konkrétně se tato práce zabývá otázkou: jak třídní příslušnost ovlivňuje reprodukci vzdělanostních nerovností. Jejím cílem je v teoretické rovině identifikovat a rozebrat podstatné faktory, jež v různé míře přispívají a ovlivňují proces mezigeneračního předávání vzdělanostního statusu. V rámci na sebe navazujících částí jsou zde postupně představeny témata, které jsou nejprve zaměřené na třídní stratifikaci, procesy reprodukce a role třídní příslušnosti. Dále se práce věnuje konkrétněji vzdělávacímu systému a jeho roli v procesu vzdělanostní reprodukce. Na školní prostředí navazují kapitoly týkající se především vlivům pramenících z rodinného zázemí, a to konkrétně vzdělanostních aspirací, kulturního kapitálu a jazykových kódů. Poslední část práce poukazuje na charakter působení genetických predispozic v tomto procesu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused to the issue of intergenerational reproduction of educational inequalities. Specifically, this work deals with the question: how class affiliation affects the reproduction of educational inequalities. Its goal is to theoretically identify and analyze essential factors that on varying degrees contribute to, and influence the process of intergenerational transmission of educational status. Within the framework of consecutive parts, are gradually introduced topics, which are first focused on class stratification, processes of reproduction and the role of class affiliation. Furthermore, the work is focused more specifically on the educational system and its role in the process of educational reproduction. The school environment is followed by chapters dealing primarily with influences stemming from the family background, namely with educational aspirations, cultural capital and language codes. The last part of this work points to the nature of the effects of genetic predispositions in this process of reproduction.
