Comparison of the Idependence of Selected Central Banks

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zhodnotit nezávislost vybraných centrálních bank a následná komparace s již existujícími studiemi, jež tuto problematiku zkoumají. Po vymezení základních pojmů, je na základě nabytých informací navržená metodika vlastního kriteriálního šetření. Podle tohoto šetření byla zjištěná největší nezávislost u Evropské centrální banky. Následuje rešerše postupů a studií zabývající se nezávislosti CB. Následná komparace indexů s již existujícími studiemi je uzavřena vyhodnocením zjištěných informací. Výsledky této komparace potvrzují největší nezávislost na centrální vládě u Evropské centrální banky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis aims to evaluate the independence of selected central banks and compare existing studies that are examining this issue. After defining the basic concepts, the methodology of own investigation is chosen based on the acquired information. According to this examination, the biggest independence was found at the European central bank. Following is a search of procedures and studies dealing with the independence of CB. Following comparison of indices with existing studies is concluded by evaluating obtained information. The results of this comparison confirm the biggest independence of the central government at the European central bank.
