The Effect of Financial Ratios and Corporate Governance on the Stock Prices of Companies Listed on Stock Exchange

Abstract:

Dizertační práce je zaměřena na zkoumání vztahu mezi cenami akcií, finančními ukazateli a faktory corporate governance.Cílem dizertační práce je zjistit, které z vybraných finančních ukazatelů a proměnných corporate governance ovlivňují ceny akcií společností kotovaných na burzách ve vybraných evropských zemích. Empirická analýza vazby mezi proměnnými je provedena v časovém období 2005 – 2017 s využitím korelační analýzy a metody GMM. Všechny použité metody jsou aplikovány na panelová data pro jednotlivé analyzované sektory. Na základě výsledků metody GMM bylo zjištěno, že vazby napříč zkoumanými zeměmi i odvětvími jsou různorodé,ale přes to lze nalézt určité společné rysy. Možné důvody dosažených výsledků a podrobnější diskuze je obsažena v praktické části a závěru dizertační práce. Nutné je ale také uvést, že na základě výsledků zjištěných metodou GMM není zcela možné vyvozovat jednoznačné obecné závěry.

Abstract:

The dissertation thesis is focused on the analysis relationship between stock prices, financial ratios, and variables corporate governance. The object of the dissertation thesis is determining, which financial ratios and variables corporate governance affects stock prices of selected European companies listed on stock exchanges. The empirical analysis of the relationship between variables is performed in the period time 2005 - 2017. For examination, there are used correlation analyses and the GMM method. All used methods are applied to the panel data for the sectors under examination. Based on the results of the GMM method, it was found that the relationship between analyzed variables across the countries and sectors examined are diverse, however, certain commonalities can be found. Possible reasons for the achieved results and a more detailed discussion is included in the practical part and the conclusion of the dissertation thesis. However, it should also be noted that based on the results obtained by the GMM method, it is not entirely possible to draw clear general conclusions.
