Abstract:
Soil erosion is a major issue in Panama because the frequency of rainfall promotes transport of soil from disposal sites into the canal channel. Increased erosion means the canal channel needs to be dredged more frequently to keep the channel operational, even now with the expansion of the Panama Canal.
