Vertical distribution of Oligochaeta in hyporheic layers

Abstract:

Vertikální distribuce máloštětinatců ("Oligochaeta") v hyporeických vrstvách Vertikální distribuce máloštětinatců ("Oligochaeta") v hyporeické zóně byla spolu s vlivem proměnných prostředí na jejich rozmístění studována v řece Loučce, v toku čtvrtého řádu s převážně štěrkovým dnem, v blízkosti obce Horní Loučky, v České republice. Pro odběr vzorků byla použita metoda zmrazovacích sond, vzorky z hyporeické zóny byly odebírány ve vertikálním profilu 0-70 cm hloubky ve třech různých odběrových místech a ve třech odběrových dnech. Skupina "Oligochaeta" byla na odběrové lokalitě dominantní (39,8 %), maximální denzity nabývala v hloubce 0-20 cm. Společenstvo máloštětinatců se ve třech odběrových místech lišilo v abundanci a vertikální distribuci. Denzity skupiny "Oligochaeta" negativně korelovaly s hloubkou a pozitivně s obsahem organického uhlíku, denzitami ostatních bezobratlých a spodním kvartilem velikosti částic sedimentu. Společenstvo skupiny "Oligochaeta" bylo ve třech odběrových místech složeno z 20 taxonů čeledí Enchytraeidae, Haplotaxidae, Lumbriculidae, Propappidae a Tubificidae (zvláště podčeledi Naidinae). Druhové zastoupení v 51 získaných vzorcích bylo analyzováno nepřímou (PCA) a přímou gradientovou analýzou (parciální RDA). Hloubka a spodní kvartil velikosti částic sedimentu měly jako jediné statisticky signifikantní vliv na variabilitu zástupců skupiny "Oligochaeta". Předpokládá se také vliv dalších proměnných prostředí - proudění a teploty vody v hyporeických vrstvách, které ale nebyly přímo měřeny. Mediánové hloubky druhů Pristina aequiseta a Nais alpina negativně korelovaly s teplotou povrchové vody. Byla analyzována velikostní struktura populace nejpočetnějšího druhu Propappus volki. Mediánová velikost živých jedinců negativně korelovala s obsahem organického uhlíku a denzitami ostatních bezobratlých a pozitivně s hloubkou.

Abstract:

Vertical distribution of "Oligochaeta" in a hyporheic layer The vertical distribution of "Oligochaeta" in a hyporheic zone and the influence of environmental variables on the occurrence of these organisms were studied in the Loučka River, a 4th order gravel stream near the village of Horní Loučky in the Czech Republic. The samples were taken using freeze-cores to the depth of 70 cm at three sites with different flow conditions on three occasions. "Oligochaeta", having the average relative abundance of 39,8 %, dominated the hyporheic community, and their maximal densities were found in the depth of 0-20 cm. The oligochaete communities at the three sites varied in abundance and vertical distribution. Densities of "Oligochaeta" were correlated negatively with depth and positively with organic carbon content, densities of other invertebrates and the lower quartile of sediment grain size. The community of "Oligochaeta" was composed of 20 taxa of the families Enchytraeidae, Haplotaxidae, Lumbriculidae, Propappidae, and Tubificidae (especially Naidinae). The species composition of all 51 samples was analysed by indirect gradient analysis (PCA) and direct gradient analysis (partial RDA). Depth and the lower quartile of sediment grain size were the only statistically significant environmental variables. Influence of other related conditions, such as interstitial water flow and hyporheic water temperature, are supposed to be important as well, however they were not directly measured. Depth optima of Pristina aequiseta and Nais alpina were negatively correlated with surface water temperature. I also analysed the body size structure of the population of the most abundant species Propappus volki. Its median body length was negatively correlated with organic carbon content and densities of other invertebrates and positively correlated with depth.
