Interaction of low temperature non-isothermal plasma with condensed phase

Abstract:

Tato disertační práce se věnuje experimentům směřujícím k analytickému využití alternativních plazmat jako excitačních zdrojů pro optickou emisní spektroskopii. Předmětem výzkumu byl dielektrický bariérový výboj (DBD), plazmová tužka a laserem buzené plazma (LIBS). V práci je uveden jejich popis, vlastnosti, použití a experimentální výsledky. U DBD byla zjištěna problematická identifikace a slabá intenzita spektrálních čar studovaných prvků, a proto byly tyto experimenty ukončeny. U plazmové tužky byly měřeny kalibrační závislosti a intenzity čar pro vybrané prvky, a to v různých polohách podél osy výboje, byla provedena diagnostika plazmatu a stanovení koncentrace vybraných prvků v minerálních vodách v kontinuálním a v pulzním režimu. Druhá část práce pojednává o analýze lidských zubů metodou LIBS a o jejím využití ve forenzní analýze jako doplňkového nástroje pro určení příčiny smrti utonutím v mořské vodě. Byly vyhotoveny chemické intenzitní mapy udávající závislost obsahu stroncia na poloze kráteru v analyzovaném zubu a byla prokázána závislost obsahu stroncia na způsobu úmrtí člověka.

Abstract:

This dissertation thesis deals with experiments aiming to the analytical use of alternative plasmas as excitation sources for atomic emission spectrometry. The research subject were dielectric barrier discharge (DBD), plasma pencil and laser induced plasma (LIBS). Their description, properties, use and experimental results are discussed in the thesis. The DBD showed poor intensities of spectral lines of the studied elements and also identification of the spectral lines was problematical. That is why these experiments have been terminated. In case of plasma pencil calibration dependences and lines intensities of selected elements were measured along the discharge axis. Also, plasma diagnostics and determination of concentration of selected elements in mineral water samples have been done for the continuous and for the pulsed mode. The second part deals with analysis of human teeth by the LIBS method and its use in the forensic analysis as a complementary tool for the cause of death identification by seawater drowning. Chemical intensity maps describing the dependence of the strontium content on crater position in the analysed tooth have been done and the dependence of the strontium content on the cause of death was proved.
