Position of the Jews in the Czech royal cities in the Late Middle Ages

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o životě židovské minority v českých královských městech v pozdním středověku. Popisuje základní dějinný vývoj, náboženství, kulturu, tradice a zvyky Židů v křesťanské společnosti v českých zemích. Studie se zabývá jak důvody pogromů Židů, tak jejich vývojem i důsledky v průběhu pozdního středověku; dále seznamuje s právním a sociálním postavením židovského obyvatelstva v českém království.

Abstract:

My thesis deals with the life of Jewish minority who lived in towns and cities of the Czech kingdom in the Late Middle Ages. It describes the fundamental historic development, religion, culture, traditions and habits of Jews in Christian society in the Czech lands of the Bohemian Crowns. The study deals with both, the reasons for pogroms of Jews, as well as with their development in the Late Middle Ages. The consequences were the acquaintances with the legal and social status of the population in the Czech Jewish kingdom.
