Hausdorff Measure and Cantor Set

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je shrnout základní teorii Lebesgueovy a Hausdorffovy míry a vysvětlit ji použitím jednotného a srozumitelného značení, popsat vlastnosti Lebesgueovy i Hausdorffovy míry a ukázat množiny, které jsou z pohledu měření komplikované. Tato práce se dále zabývá Hausdorffovou dimenzí a hlubší analýzou několika druhů Cantorových množin (od Cantorova diskontinua k zobecněným Cantorovým množinám). Na závěr je definována Minkowského dimenze, která je na příkladech Cantorových množin také porovnána s dimenzí Hausdorffovou.

Abstract:

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to explain the basic theory of Lebesgue and Hausdorff measure using unified and simple symbols and notation, to describe some properties of these measures and also to show examples of sets, which are not easy to measure. This thesis also discusses the Hausdorff dimension and thoroughly analyzes some types of Cantor sets (not only Cantor ternary set, but also generalized Cantor sets). At the end of this thesis, the Minkowski dimension is defined and compared to the Hausdorff dimension on some Cantor set examples.
