Self-discrepancies, meta-emotion and psychic state in emerging adults

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na zkoumání souvislostí diskrepancí aktuálního, ideálního a požadovaného já, reflexe emočního stavu a psychického stavu u osob v období vynořující se dospělosti. Psychický stav zahrnuje míru deprese, úzkosti a vnímané míry štěstí. Rovněž jsou ověřovány souvislosti komponent reflexe emočního stavu. Výzkum proběhl online na sociálních sítích a výzkumný vzorek čítá 274 osob, z toho 188 žen a 86 mužů. Byly nalezeny slabé souvislosti sebediskrepancí a psychického stavu a středně silné souvislosti reflexe emočního stavu a psychického stavu. Dále bylo zjištěno, že reflexe emočního stavu částečně moderuje vztah sebediskrepancí a psychického stavu: osoby s vyšší mírou reflexe emočního stavu měly slabší asociace sebediskrepancí a psychického stavu. Pro osoby s krajními hodnotami reflexe emočního stavu moderační efekt neplatil. Také jsme zjistili, že komponenty reflexe emocí spolu specificky souvisí: pozornost vůči emocím měla pouze nepřímou souvislost s emoční nápravou skrze vnímanou jasnost emočního stavu. Věk s reflexí emocí nesouvisel. Limity výzkumu jsou sebeposuzovací povaha měřících nástrojů, nemožnost kauzálního uvažování a omezený vzorek osob z internetu. Jsou představeny i návrhy na další výzkum.

Abstract:

The present thesis examines the associations betweent the discrepancies of actual, ideal and ought self, the reflection of emotional state and the psychological state in emerging adults. The psychological state comprises the depression, anxiety and subjective happiness rate. The relations between components of reflection of emotional state are also studied. The online research took place on the social sites and our sample comprises 279 participants, 191 women and 88 men. We found small associations between self-discrepancies and psychological state and moderate associations between the reflection of emotional state and psychological state. We also founf that the reflection of emotional state partially moderates the relati-onship between self-discrepancies and psychological state: there was a tendency for the participants with higher rates of reflection of emotions to have a weaker relationship between self-discrepancies and psycho-logical state. For people with marginal values of reflection of emotion this moderation effect was not signi-ficant. A specific associations between the components of self-discrepancies and psychological state were also discovered: attention to emotion was related to the emotional repair only through the moderating effect of emotional clarity. Age was not related to reflection of emotion. The research is limited by the self-report type of measuring instruments and also by the correlational design that inables any considerations of causality and a limited participant sample. We also present some suggestions for the future research.
