Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá výskyt gramatické kategorie označované v angličtině jako ‘linking adverbials’ v odborných článcích. Do češtiny se tento termín dá přeložit jako příslovečná určení se spojovací funkcí. Z možných vlastností, která tato příslovečná určení mají, jsou zde zkoumány četnost výskytu a sémantické funkce. Předkládaná práce se zaměřuje na dva typy odborných článků – lingvistické a historické. V teoretické části práce jsou shrnuty základní poznatky o anglických odborných článcích a příslovečných určení se spojovací funkcí. Pozornost byla věnována zejména popisu makrostruktury a některých podžánrů výzkumných článků. Dále se popis soustředil zvláště na terminologické a kategoriální vymezení příslovečných určení se spojovací funkcí. Praktická část bakalářské práce se zaměřuje na kvantitativní a kvalitativní výzkum těchto příslovečných určení v jednotlivých odborných článcích. Ukazuje výsledky týkající se celkového počtu příslovečných určení v odborných článcích, jejich četnosti výskytu a rozdělení podle sémantických kategorií. Pozornost je věnována zejména rozdílu v počtu příslovečných určení tohoto typu mezi historickými a lingvistickými odbornými články a interpretaci tohoto jevu.

Abstract:

The present thesis examines the occurrence of linking adverbials in research articles. Of the possible properties of linking adverbials, the frequency of occurrence and semantic functions are under investigation here. The thesis focuses on two types of research articles – linguistic and historic. It consists of two parts – theoretical and practical. In the first part, the necessary knowledge of research articles and linking adverbials are brought together. The attention has been paid especially to the description of the macrostructure and some of the subgenres of RA. Next, the terminological and categorial classification has been delineated. The practical part provides quantitative and qualitative analyses of linking adverbials in the selected research articles. It presents results concerning the overall number of linking adverbials in RAs, their frequency of occurrence and classification according to semantic categories. A special attention is paid to the difference in the numbers of linking adverbials between historic and linguistic research articles and the interpretation of this phenomenon.
