The back muscle endurance test in patients with nonspecific low back pain

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce bylo zkoumání vlivu výdrže izometrické kontrakce extenzorů trupu na nespecifickou bolest dolní části zad. Experimentální soubor tvořilo 26 pacientů (7mužů a 19 žen) ambulantní rehabilitace s chronickými nespecifickými bolestmi dolní části zad, ve věku 18 - 64 let, kteří vyplňovali dotazníky bolesti (dotazník interference bolesti s denními aktivitami - DIBDA a Krátkou formu dotazníku McGillovy Univerzity - SFMPQ) a absolvovali měření Biering S?rensenovým testem (test výdrže izometrické kontrakce extenzorů trupu) (BS test) před začátkem a po ukončení 6 týdnů trvající rehabilitace. Kontrolní soubor tvořilo 31 osob bez bolestí dolní části zad (12 mužů a 19 žen), ve věku 23 59 let, kteří absolvovali měření BS testem jen jednou. Z dosažených výsledků je zřejmé, že byl statisticky významný rozdíl v časech naměřených BS testem mezi skupinou pacientů před zahájením rehabilitace a po ukončení rehabilitace (zvýšení časů), mezi pacienty před zahájením rehabilitace a kontrolní skupinou a mezi pacienty po ukončení rehabilitace a kontrolní skupinou. Bylo také zjištěno, že došlo ke statisticky významnému snížení hodnocení bolesti v dotaznících SF-MPQ a DIBDA po ukončení rehabilitační intervence. Všechny výsledky byly statisticky významné na hladině p $<$ 0, 05. Závěrem je, že 6 týdnů trvající rehabilitace vedla u pacientů ke zvýšení výdrže izometrické kontrakce extenzorů trupu a snížení bolesti, ale výdrž izometrické kontrakce extenzorů trupu stále nedosahovala hodnot kontrolního souboru. Výdrž izometrické kontrakce extenzorů trupu měřená BS testem koresponduje s nespecifickou bolestí dolní části zad a tato metoda by mohla být využita k měření efektu kinezioterapie vedené za účelem snížení bolesti dolní části zad.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis was to study the influence of back muscle endurance to non-specific low back pain.The experimental group consisted of 26 patients (19 women and 7mužů) of the outpatient rehabilitation department with chronic nonspecific low back pain aged 18-64 years who filled out pain questionnaires (pain interference with daily activities ? DIBDA, short form of the McGill pain questionnaire - SFMPQ) and completed measurements with Biering-S?rensen test (back muscle endurance test) (BS test) before and after a 6 weeks-long rehabilitation. The control group consisted of 31 persons without low back pain (12 men and 19 women), aged 23 - 59 who completed the BS measurement test only once. From the results it was clear that there was a statistically significant difference in times measured by the BS test between the group of patients before rehabilitation and after rehabilitation (increasing time), between patients before rehabilitation and the control group and between patients after rehabilitation and the control group. SF MPQ and DIBDA assesment questionnaire also showed that after rehabilitation interventions there was a statistically significant reduction in pain. All results were statistically significant at the level of p $<$0,05. The conclusion is that 6 weeks of rehabilitation led to an increase in back muscle endurance and pain reduction, but back muscle endurance doesn´t reach the same value as control group. Back muscle endurance measured by the BS test corresponds to non-specific low back pain and this method could be used to measure the effect kinesiotherapy conducted in order to reduce low back pain.
