The importance of new media as a communication platform for live music streaming during Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract:

V roce 2020 přišla pandemie Covid-19 a s ní i neustále se měnící omezení, která platila po celé České republice, ale i za jejími hranicemi. Byla to bezprecedentní situace, kterou nikdo nečekal a nemohl se na ni tedy připravit a pokud se hudební umělci chtěli držet svého povolání, museli se velmi rychle přizpůsobit. Alternativní cestou, jak zůstat v kontaktu se svými fanoušky v reálném čase, mohlo být intenzivnější využívání sociálních sítí a jejich funkcionalit. Magisterská diplomová práce mapuje právě využití sociálních sítí a dalších online komunikačních platforem v hudebním průmyslu během pandemie Covid-19 a to u tří vybraných umělců – písničkář Pokáč, kapela Kryštof a kapela Mirai. Katalogizuje, jaké možnosti využili tito hudebníci v situacích, kdy byl omezen kontakt s živým publikem a byly jim znemožněny koncerty, festivaly a podobné hudební akce a to v přesně vymezeném období roku 2020. Pro relevantnější výsledky dochází v diplomové práci také ke srovnání s rokem 2019 a je doplněna analýzou obsahu koncertů přizpůsobených epidemiologické situaci.

Abstract:

The year 2020 has been defined by a pandemic situation Covid-19 that has consequently set up all kind of continuously changing limitations in the Czech republic and abroad as well. It was an unprecedented situation that nobody could foresee neither could prepare for. In case musicians wanted to keep their profession, they had to adapt very fast. An alternate mean to keep their audience and stay connected with it in the real time was a more intense use of social media. This thesis maps the use of social media and other online platforms in music business during the pandemic. It concentrates specifically on three chosen music units - the singer Pokáč and two bands Kryštof and Mirai. It traces the alternate ways these musicians exploited when the real time live contact with their audience was limited and there was a bann on concerts, festivals and similar musical productions during 2020. The thesis compares the situation in 2020 with a standard situation in 2019 and it is completed with an analysis of the songs used in concerts which was eventually optimized due to the epidemiologic situation.
