Impacts of the Great Recession on the unemployment in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na německý trh práce v průběhu Velké recese. Cílem práce je vyhodnotit důvody, které vedly k zvýšené odolnosti německého pracovního trhu proti dopadům Velké recese. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola se věnuje historickému vývoji německého trhu práce s přihlédnutím na jeho charakteristiky. Druhá kapitola je zaměřena na předkrizové období, které bylo výrazně ovlivněno Hartzovými reformami. Třetí kapitola se již věnuje dopadům Velké recese na německou ekonomiku, která zaznamenala největší propad HDP od dob druhé světové války. Čtvrtá kapitola se zaměřuje na opatření, která byla v období krize přijata. Závěr práce ukazuje, že za odolností německého pracovního trhu nestála pouze přijatá opatření, ale je také potřeba upřít pozornost na předkrizový vývoj a vnější faktory, které pomohly ekonomiku stabilizovat.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to provide an overview of the German labour market during the Great Recession. The thesis further aims to evaluate reasons that led to increased robustness of the German labour market during the crisis. The thesis is divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter presents the historical development of the German labour market and its characteristics. The second part focuses on the pre-crisis period, which was highly affected by the Hartz reforms. The third part describes the impacts of the crisis on the German economy, which was facing the biggest shrinkage of GDP since the end of the World War II. The fourth chapter aims to evaluate measures, that were implemented during the crisis. Conclusion is that to have a clear overview of the German labour market it is important to consider not only the measures implemented during the crisis, but also the pre-crisis development and other external aspects, which helped to stabilise the economy.
