Plánovaná lesbická rodina: rozhodovací proces jako klíčový aspekt přechodu k rodičovství

Planned lesbian family: decision-making during transition to parenthood

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá problematikou rodičovství lesbických žen. Jedná se o aktuální téma, které zatím není v tuzemském odborném kontextu podrobněji řešeno. V obecné rovině si projekt kladl za cíl přiblížit jeden z alternativních rodinných modelů v současné společnosti – rodiny tvořené stejnopohlavním rodičovským párem a jeho dětmi. Hlavním výzkumným cílem bylo přispět k porozumění rodičovské zkušenosti lesbických žen, které se rozhodly pro rodičovství v rámci stejnopohlavního partnerského vztahu v tzv. plánovaných lesbických rodinách. Konkrétně šlo identifikaci a přiblížení specifik období přechodu k rodičovství se zvláštním zřetelem na dílčí aspekty (klíčové momenty a události) rozhodovacího procesu lemujícího cestu k rodičovství. Zvláštní pozornost byla věnována zachycení procesu konstrukce významů, s pomocí kterých lesbické matky popisují a vysvětlují vlastní rodičovskou zkušenost. Šlo o zachycení fenoménu z pozice subjektu, tj. naší snahou bylo postihnout, jak samy lesbické matky vlastní rodičovství chápou a jak jej konceptualizují. Pokusili jsme se taktéž rámcově postihnout rozdíly spojené s biologickým a sociálním rodičovstvím. V empirické části práce jsou prezentovány výsledky vlastního terénního kvalitativního výzkumu lesbických rodin. Jednalo se o exploračně-deskriptivní typ výzkumu. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo celkem 10 plánovaných lesbických rodin, které byly reprezentovány rodičovským párem. Kritériem pro zařazení do vzorku byla kromě homosexuální orientace respondentek skutečnost, že všechny ženy žily v době sběru dat ve stejnopohlavním partnerském vztahu a ve společné domácnosti vychovávaly pouze dítě/děti, které se narodilo/y plánovaně v kontextu tohoto vztahu. Se všemi páry byl nejdříve veden párový hloubkový polostrukturovaný rozhovor, doplněný o individuální interview (s biologickou i sociální matkou). Následně byla s částí respondentek (6) uspořádána focus group. Hlavní okruhy rozhovorového schématu se zabývaly následujícími tématy: motivace k rodičovství, volba reprodukční strategie (vyjednávání biologického rodičovství, kritéria volby dárce/otce, způsob početí), dostupné zdroje sociální opory v průběhu přechodu k rodičovství, vyjednávání kompetencí biologického a sociálního rodičovství, rozdělení rolí. Získaná data byla zpracována na základě principů kvalitativní metodologie (interpretativní fenomenologická analýza) s využitím podpůrného softwaru Atlas/ti. Ve výsledkové části jsou shrnuty zkušenosti žen artikulované v rozhovorech a focus group. V rámci diskuze je prezentován vlastní návrh deskriptivního procesuálního modelu přechodu k rodičovství u lesbických párů. Jeho jednotlivé komponenty představují klíčové momenty a události, které se průběžně „vynořují“ s přechodem k rodičovství, a které obnášejí specifické psychosociální úkoly. Byl taktéž zohledněn vliv kontextuálních faktorů působících na tento proces. V závěru práce jsou naznačeny možnosti dalšího zkoumání.

Abstract:

The dissertation thesis deals with the issue of lesbian parenting. It is a current topic that has not been examined in a greater detail in the Czech professional context. At a general level, the project intended to give an insight into an alternative family model in the society of today – family formed by a same-sex couple and their children. The main research aim was to contribute to understanding of parenting experience of lesbian women who have decided to become parents within a same-sex relationship in the so-called planned lesbian families. In particular, it was to identify and examine the specifics of the transition to parenthood with a special regard to its partial aspects (key moments and events) of the decision-making process lining the couple’s path to parenthood. Special attention was paid to recapturing the process of meanings constructions and its outcomes via which lesbian mothers describe and explain their own parenting experience. We were determined to scrutinize the phenomenon from the perspective of the subject, i.e. we endeavoured to depict how lesbian mothers themselves understand and conceptualise their parenting. Moreover, we also tried to give an overall account of differences associated with biological and social parenting. In the empirical part of the thesis, there are results of our own field qualitative research of lesbian families. It was designed as an exploratory-descriptive type of research. The research sample consists of a total of 10 planned lesbian families that were represented by the parenting couple. The criterion for inclusion into the sample was, besides a lesbian identity of the respondents, also the fact that all women were engaged at the time of data collection in a same-sex relationship and they were raising in a shared household only children that were born within the context of the current relationship. First, all couples were subjected to a joint in-depth semi-structured interview followed by an individual interview (both with the biological and social mother). Consequently, a focus group was run with a part of the respondents (6). The main topics of the interview schedule dealt with issues such as motivation to parenthood, choice of reproduction strategy (negotiating biological parenthood, criterion of the donor/ father, method of conception), available resources of social support in the course of the transition to parenthood, negotiating the competencies of biological and social parenting, distribution of roles. The acquired data were processed on the grounds of the principles of qualitative methodology (interpretative phenomenological analysis) and the analysis was supported by the qualitative data software package Atlas/ti. In the result part, experience of women articulated in interviews and focus group is summed up. Within discussion, our own suggestion of a descriptive processional model of transition to parenthood in lesbian couples is presented. Its individual components represent key moments and events that gradually “emerge” with the transition to parenthood and that involve specific psycho-social tasks. Furthermore, the influence of contextual factors affecting this process was also taken into account. In the conclusion of the thesis, possibilities of further research are implied.
