The Translation of Website Related to Business and Its Specific Properties

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the homepages of companies, it describes their typical features and explains the steps of genre analysis. It also focuses on the characteristic properties of the translation of websites in general as well as of homepages specifically, and on useful translation strategies and methods. A genre analysis of seven different versions of homepages of originally Czech companies in Czech and English is provided in the practical part and the result is the description of tendencies and procedures used while creating them.

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje domovským stránkám společností, popisuje jejich typické rysy a vysvětluje postup žánrové analýzy. Zabývá se také specifiky překladu nejprve celých webových stránek, posléze čistě tohoto konkrétního žánru a využitelnými překladatelskými strategiemi a metodami. V praktické části je provedena žánrová analýza sedmi verzí domovských stránek původem českých společností v češtině i angličtině a výsledkem je popis tendencí a postupů, které jsou využity v jejich tvorbě.
