Pán William: The upps and downs of present author' subject

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on my artistic project Pán William and its selected works as an example on which I analyze the character of current author subject. Moreover, I discuss the input of viewers, since they are also related to the subject of author. I put my thesis into the context of metamodernism and post internet which are concepts relevant for the current cultural logic. Therefore, I understand the current author´s subject as a synonym of the metamodern author aswell as the synonym of author in post internet art. The question is analyzed on four levels: 1) The collective nature of Pán William, 2) The theft of Pán William, 3) Pán William and gender subversion, 4) Pán William in relation to the viewer. These levels are linked with each other and overlap. The method I use for my work is autoetnography. My own experience with Pán William and the social anthropological reflection help me to highlight the nature of the present author's character.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca je venovaná môjmu umeleckému projektu Pán William a jeho vybraným dielam, na príklade ktorých analyzujem charakter súčasného autorského subjektu. Ten zároveň budem rozoberať v súvislosti s divákom, keďže autora a diváka považujem za usúvzťažnených. Prácu zasadím do kontextu metamoderny ako súčasne kultúrnej logiky a post internetového umenia, ktoré je jej súčasťou. Súčasný subjekt autora preto chápem synonymom pre metamoderného autora a ako autora post internetového umenia. Otázka charakteru postavy autora bude riešená v štyroch rovinách: 1) Kolektívny charakter Pána Williama, 2) Odcudzenie Pána Williama, 3) Pán William a genderová subverzia, 4) Pán William vo vzťahu k divákovi. Tieto roviny spolu navzájom súvisia a prekrývajú sa. Problematiku spracujem pomocou inšpirácie v autoetnografii. Moja skúsenosť s Pánom Williamom a jej sociálne antropologická reflexia mi tak pmôžu poukázať na charakter súčasnej autorskej postavy.
