Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vyučováním anglické gramatiky na druhém stupni základní školy s využitím literárních textů. Hlavním cílem práce je ověřit, zda je tento alternativní přístup efektivnější než vyučování stejného jazykového materiálu s využitím učebnice a tradičních metod. Teoretická část diplomové práce se zabývá metodami ve vyučování gramatiky, způsoby využití literatury ve vyučování cizího jazyka a některými technikami, které budou využity pro vyučování gramatiky. Výzkum obsažený v diplomové práci byl navržen a připraven s ohledem na poznatky vyplývající ze studia literatury. Výzkum zkoumá efektivitu skryté prezentace jazyka a induktivní metody s použitím literárních úryvků. Výsledky jsou porovnány s prací kontrolních skupin, které stejnou látku probírají tradičním způsobem s využitím deduktivní metody. Práce dále vychází z předpokladu, že efektivita vyučování je ovlivněna motivací studentů a poskytnutím smysluplného kontextu. Využití literatury ve výuce jazyka garantuje zvýšení motivace studentů a zároveň poskytnutí dostatečného kontextu. Průběh experimentálních hodin a výsledky testů ukázaly, že využívání literárních textů pro výuku gramatiky na druhém stupni základní školy je velmi přínosné zejména s ohledem na motivaci a zájem studentů, může sloužit jako oživení průběhu vyučování a přináší lepší znalostní výsledky při vyučování jednodušších gramatických struktur. Při vyučování komplexnějších a náročnějších gramatických struktur je vhodné využít experimentální přístup pouze jako úvod do tématu a dále ho doplnit procvičováním a vysvětlením.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with teaching English grammar to lower secondary students with the use of literary texts. The main aim of the work is to prove, whether this alternative approach to teaching is more effective than teaching the same language material through the textbook and traditional methods. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with methods of grammar teaching, ways of using literature in the language classroom and various techniques which can be used in grammar teaching. The research of the thesis has been planned and carried out with respect to the findings from literature. The research studies effectivity of covert approach and inductive study of grammar with the use of literature, compared to deductive method used in the traditional lessons. The work is further based on the hypothesis that motivated and interested students work and learn more effectively; plus also on the fact that studying grammar in context is more efficient. Literature, as a tool for presentation, provides the context and also raises motivation and interest of the learners. The process of the experimental lessons and the results of the test show, that using literary texts for studying English grammar at lower secondary level is very beneficial in terms of students´ interest and motivation, that it can serve as inhibitor of the learning process, and that it can bring better cognitive results with simpler grammar patterns. However, with more complex and demanding topics, it should better be used as a preview to the topic and later be completed with further practice and explanations.
