The Cyberbullying from the view of Adolescents

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá kyberšikanou jako jevem, který se vyskytuje primárně u dospívajících. Teoretická část je tvořena propojováním pojmů tradiční a kyberšikany a také popisem souvislostí a rozdílností v jejich výzkumech. Jsou shrnuty vybrané výzkumy týkající se výskytu kyberšikany jak v zahraničí, tak v České republice a popsána hlavní schémata, která zobrazují vlastnosti a kanály šíření jevu v kyberprostoru .Kyberšikana je také propojena s obdobím adolescence a jeho základními charakteristikami. Postihnuty jsou některé osobnostní vlastnosti kyber-agresora a kyber-oběti. Autorka propojuje výzkumy zaměřené na reakce oběti a dopady kyberšikany. V závěru teoretické části jsou popsány obranné mechanismy a copingové strategie oběti při zátěžové situaci kyberšikany. Výzkumná část, provedená metodou zakotvené teorie, obsahuje vzorek 15ti respondentů, který byl interviewován na základě polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Otevřené kódování bylo provedeno v programu ATLAS ti. 6.0. Na základě výzkumné analýzy rozhovorů autorka vytvořila hierarchii průběhu kyberšikany pomocí centrální kategorie „vnímání/přístup oběti“, která je v obousměrném ovlivňujícím vztahu s šesti kategoriemi (navazování kontaktu, zlomový moment – začátek kyberšikany, formy kyberšikany, prožívání oběti – pocity, obranné mechanismy/copingové strategie a dopady/následky kyberšikany), jež vyjadřují základní prvky kyberšikany. Kritické dopady se vyskytovaly v podobě klesání sebevědomí a nárůstem pocitu osamělosti, po zážitku kyberšikany také došlo k vytvoření nedůvěry k lidem. Vážnější formou dopadu kyberšikany bylo sebepoškozování.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with cyberbullying as a phenomenon appearing mainly in adolescents. The theoretical part of the text connects terms from traditional bullying with those in cyberbullying; it also describes connections and differences between various studies on cyberbullying. The thesis summarizes certain studies on cyberbullying both in the Czech Republic and abroad and it describes the main schemas which depict features and channels of diffusion of cyberbullying in cyberspace. Cyberbullying is here connected to adolescence and its main characteristics. In particular, the text discusses some personality traits of the cyberbully and the cybervictim. The final section of the theoretical part deals with the victims‘ defense mechanisms and coping strategies when cyberbullied. Based on grounded theory, the analytical part of the text works with a sample of fifteen respondents who were interviewed using a semi-structured interview. Open coding was then carried out in ATLAS ti. 6.0. Based on the analysis of the interviews, the thesis creates a hierarchy of progression of cyberbullying, revolving around the central category of “perception/approach of the victim.“ This category is in a bilaterally influencing relation to six categories (initiating communication, breaking point-start of cyberbullying, forms of cyberbullying, victim’s experience – emotions, defense mechanisms/coping strategies, and impacts/consequences of cyberbullying) which represent the basic elements of cyberbullying. Crucial consequences took the form of decline in self-confidence and increase in loneliness. Having experienced cyberbullying, the respondents also felt distrustful towards people. Self-harm represented a more serious consequence of cyberbullying.
