Abstract:

Diplomová práce na téma Manželky a milenky: legitimní a alternativní svazky v západní společnosti? se dělí na dvě části. První je komparativního charakteru, založený na komparaci různých antropologických pohledů, jak z historie, tak ze současnosti, druhá je založená na mém vlastním empirickém výzkumu. V první části práce jsem popsala základní charakteristiky manželství a rodiny jak z historického hlediska, tak v současné západní společnosti. Cílem mé práce byl popis rozdílných pohledů na manželství a vztahy mezi euroatlanskou a mimoevropskou společností. Dále jsem identifikovala a popsat rozdíly ve vnímání monogamie a polygamie a ukázala možné alternativní vztahy především mimoevropských společností, jako jsou například bratrská polyandrie či polygynní polyandrie. Pro vývoj západní podoby vztahů bylo klíčové křesťanství, proto je mu věnována značná pozornost při popisu západního/evropského vzorce partnerských vztahů. Možné alternativy těchto vztahů jsou podrobněji popsané jak z hlediska příčin, tak jejich dopadů; je zahrnuta také otázka sexu a fenomén v minulosti označovaný jako konkubináty. Dnes se označení konkubíny převedlo na milenky a odkazy na ně jsou zmiňovány v průběhu celé práce. V druhé části práce jsem se pokusila identifikovat, popsat a analyzovat specifický typ vztahů v současné společnosti - a to vztahů vzniklých ve školním prostředí, vztahů mezi pedagogy a studenty na středních školách. Díky ožehavosti tohoto tématu se mi podařilo získat jen 8 respondentů, přičemž jsem popsala téměř dvacet možných vztahů a určila mimo jiné typologii, motivace k těmto vztahům či se zaměřila na velmi diskutovanou otázku etiky. Ačkoliv jsem si vědoma, že v takovémto počtu respondentů má práce není generalizovatelná na většinovou společnost, domnívám se, že vzhledem k možné problematizaci či dokonce kriminalizaci respondentů, jejichž anonymitu jsem se snažila co nejvíce zachovat, se na toto téma pravděpodobně výzkum větších rozměrů ani provádět nedá.

Abstract:

In my thesis named Wives and lovers: legitimate and alternative relationships in western society? It is divided in two different parts: theoretical which is based on scientific books and papers and the empirical one, which is based on my own field research. In the first part of the thesis, I tried to explain general characteristics of marriage and family in contemporary world and in the past as well. The general aim of my paper was to focus on distinction between Euro-Atlantic and non-European societies and their view to marriage and relationships. Another centre of attention was to identify and describe differences between Monogamy and Polygamy and to describe alternative relationships in non-European world like for example fraternal polyandry or polygynandry. For European marriage and relationship patterns religion has been identified as a crucial point, because especial Christianity had an important influence in creating general features of relationships in contemporary west-European societies. Thus, one part of my work is focused on Christian history in Europe. The very important part of the thesis is dealing with with typology of common relationships in present-day western societies like phenomena of serial monogamy or long-term relationship without marriage. The chapter stressing and analysing the importance of sex is included as well. In the second part of the thesis I tried to identify, describe and analyse a specific type of contemporary alternative relationships: my research was focused on relationships between teachers and students in high school. With the theoretical background of so called grounded theory and participative observation I realised interviews with 8 teachers. As a results of my research the typology of relationships at the beginning of relationships and motivations of teachers for the relationships with the students are described and discussed. However, because of relative low number of interviewed teachers it is not possible to generalise my results to the whole society. Moreover the realization of the research was fundamentally complicated by the danger of criminalisation of my respondents (sexual harassment etc.). Thus, also the discussion of the problem of ethics of such research is the inherent part of my outcomes.
