The state of secondary schools and the organization of study fields in the region of Usti nad Labem

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá středním školstvím. Popisuje jeho základní strukturu, definuje základní pojmy, dále zpracovává jeho řízení a financování. Detailně se zabývá středním školstvím v Ústeckém kraji. Práce proto charakterizuje tento region z demografického, přírodního a hospodářského pohledu. Aplikační část je zpracována na základě vlastního rozsáhlého výzkumu, kdy byl proveden rozbor středních škol a jejich studijních oborů v Ústeckém kraji, po jednotlivých okresech (NUTS V). Analyzována byla situace ve středním školství Ústeckého kraje ve vztahu k ostatním krajům, nezaměstnanosti absolventů. Z výsledků práce by měly vyplynout největší současné problémy a posouzení, jak se na jejich odstranění bude podílet připravovaná reforma školství, jejíž některé body již byly uvedeny do praxe.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the topic of the system of secondary education. It depicts its basic structure and defines the main terminology. It further analyses the aspects of management and financing of secondary schools. This project is particularly concerned with secondary education in the region of Usti nad Labem. Therefore, it characterizes the region from the demographical, natural and industrial perspective. The application part is based on the author’s own extensive research, in which secondary schools in this specific region and their courses are examined. Special attention is paid to the individual districts of the region of Usti nad Labem (NUTS V). The situation of secondary education in the region is studied with respect to other Czech regions, while considering the issue of unemployment of secondary school graduates. The thesis strives to outline the most important problems in the studied field and assess the education reform under preparation, several points of which have been recently implemented into the system. Furthermore, it attempts to predict the prospective influence of the reform. It poses a question whether and how the reform will eliminate the present problems of the entire system of secondary education.
