A comparative analysis of child mortality with congenital abnormalities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku komparace morality dětí s vrozenými abnormalitami v evropských zemích. Teoretická část přibližuje charakterizaci vrozených vad' deformací a chromozomálních abnormalit a jejich ekvivalentní pojmenování v celosvětovém měřítku. Jako vodítka byla použita tuzemská odborná literatura, ale i zahraniční zdroje. V praktické části probíhá statistická analýza za použití statistického software, jako je Matlab a R. Použity jsou metody deskriptivní statistiky (četnost, průměr, směrodatná odchylka, minimum a maximum), metody inferenční statistiky (testy normality distribuce dat, korelační koeficienty, komparační analýzy a metoda založené na metodách maximální věrohodnosti). Základními zdroji dat jsou portály Evropská statistická databáze a data Světové banky. Hlavním cílem bude zjistit, zda mezi jednotlivými zeměmi Evropy existují statisticky významné rozdíly v oblasti úmrtnosti dětí s vrozenými abnormalitami a dále nalezení trendu v zemích, které lze v této oblasti označit za nejvíce problematické v porovnání s ostatními státy Evropy.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of comparing the morality of children with congenital abnormalities in European countries. The theoretical part approximates the characterization of congenital defects, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities and their equivalent names on a global scale. Domestic specialist literature, as well as foreign sources, were used as guides. In the practical part, statistical analysis is carried out using statistical software such as Matlab and R. Methods of descriptive statistics (frequency, average, standard deviation, minimum and maximum), inferential statistics methods (tests of normality of data distribution, correlation coefficients, comparative analyzes and method based on maximum likelihood methods). The basic sources of data are the European Statistical Database portals and World Bank data. The main goal will be to find out whether there are statistically significant differences between the individual countries of Europe in the area of mortality of children with congenital abnormalities and also to find a trend in the countries that can be characterized as the most problematic in this area compared to other European countries.
