Literary motives "home country" and "heaven" in the novel "Himmel über Pichlern" of Margarete Kraus

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the novel Himmel über Pichlern by Margaret Krause published in 2000. The author is part of the second generation of the Germans deported from Czechoslovakia. She comes from the Šumava group. This work focuses on analyzing and the interpratation of this novel. The main focus is on a detailed content analysis, mainly the themes of "Heimat" meaning homeland, country, home, and "Himmel" meaning heaven. Other points that are discussed are literary figures, themes, time and place, the expulsion, literary references, nature and death. These are analyzed and explained in context of the main topics. This thesis also discusses the problematic allocation of this novel into literary genres. This novel has been chosen as there has been no professional literary study conducted so far.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá románem "Himmel über Pichlern" od Margarete Kraus, který vyšel v roce 2000. Autorka patří ke druhé generaci odsunutých Němců z Československa, zde konkrétně ze Šumavy. Předložená práce má za cíl analýzu a interpretaci románu. Největší pozornost je věnována podrobné obsahové analýze s hlavním zaměřením na motivy "Heimat"(=domovina, vlast, domov) a "Himmel"(=nebe). Také další aspekty (literární figury, témata, určení místa a času, odsun, literární odkazy, příroda, smrt) jsou analyzovány a interpretovány s ohledem na vybrané hlavní motivy. Práce se zabývá také literárním zařazením románu, které není jednoznačné. Autorka se rozhodla právě pro tento román, protože ještě nikde v odborné sekundární literatuře není literárně-vědecky zpracován.
