Analysis of the poetic of the urban space in the latest Czech postmodern prose.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá poetikou prostoru města ve vybraných prózách Pavla Brycze, Josefa Straky, Bogdana Trojaka a Jaromíra Typlta vydaných v letech 1991-2008. Východisko analýzy konkrétních textů tvoří reflexe a zmapování teoretického uchopení prostoru v literární teorii se zaměřením na postmoderní literární teorii. V práci jsou popsány narativní postupy jednotlivých autorů a jejich práce s časem a prostorem, přičemž důraz je kladen na konkrétní vnímání města jednotlivými autory. Ačkoliv každý autor reflektuje městský prostor poněkud odlišně, jejich tvorbu spojuje tendence k zobrazení města jako kolektivní i osobní paměti.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the poetics of city spaces in works of prose by Pavel Brycz, Josef Straka, Bogdan Trojak and Jaromír Typlt published between the years 1991 and 2008. Mapping and reflection of current theoretical approaches to the category of space in literature are forming the background of the subsequent text interpretations. In the thesis a narrative process of the particular authors is described, together with their work with time and the space, whereas the perception of a town by particular authors is stressed. In spite of the different perception of a urban space, the authors are joined by the desire to describe city as a space of cultural memory.
