Social intelligence, social competence, social skills and communication of adolescents with various forms of asocial behavior

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je součástí výzkumného projektu postaveném na spolupráci tří studentek Psychologického ústavu Masarykovy univerzity v Brně. Základním cílem výzkumu je analyzovat komponenty sociální inteligence a určit, které z nich se podílí na vzniku prosociálního a asociálního chování a to s ohledem na vývojový aspekt. Výzkumnou skupinu (lidé s asociálním chováním) tvoří adolescenti ve výkonu trestu a kontrolní skupinu tvoří adolescenti, kteří se objektivně chovají prosociálně. Teoretická část výzkumu je rozdělena mezi tři diplomové práce, kde každá přispívá k celkové problematice určitým dílem, ovšem empirická část se liší pouze ve výzkumném souboru. Tato diplomová práce se v teoretické části zabývá problematikou sociální inteligence, sociální kompetence a sociálních dovedností, což jsou bazální témata našeho výzkumného projektu. Vysvětlujeme také problematiku příbuzných pojmů, jako jsou sociální interakce a socializace. Dále se zaměřujeme na osobnostní charakteristiky jako na predispozice prosociálního či asociálního chování. Poslední kapitola teoretické části pojednává o ontogenetickém období adolescence, jelikož lidé této věkové skupiny tvoří výzkumný soubor. V empirické části se zabýváme vztahy mezi jednotlivými složkami sociální inteligence a jejich projevy v prosociálním a asociálním chování. Konkrétně jsme se zaměřili na empatii, kterou zjišťuje dotazník IRI. Dále nás zajímá sociální rezonance, sociální potence a sebekontrola, které jsou obsaženy v Giessen testu. Sociální inteligence se také projevuje v adekvátních strategiích zvládání stresu, jež měříme pomocí dotazníku SVF 78. Nedílnou součástí sociální inteligence je také tendence k altruismu, měřená dotazníkem SIPO. Jako bariéry pro rozvoj sociální inteligence se jeví úzkostnost (dotazník STAI X-2), impulzivita a psychický nepokoj (dotazník SUPSO). Z osobnostních charakteristik se jako bariéry sociální inteligence projevují poruchy osobnosti, zjišťované testem PSSI a neuroticismus (dotazník NEO). Tento test také postihuje osobnostní charakteristiky, jako jsou extraverze, otevřenost vůči zkušenosti, přívětivost a svědomitost, které chápeme jako osobnostní předpoklady sociální inteligence.

Abstract:

This thesis is a part of a research project based on the teamwork of three students of the Department of Psychology at the Masaryk University. The common objectives of the research project is to analyze the components of social intelligence and to state, which out of these components participate in the rate of prosocial and asocial behavior with regard to the view of developmental aspect. The research group (people with asocial behavior) is formed by adolescents in prison, the control group is formed by adolescents, whose behavior is objectively prosocial. The theoretical part of the research is divided into tree diploma theses, each of them making a certain contribution to the general issue. The empirical part only differs in terms of the research group. In its theoretical part this thesis deals with the problem of social intelligence, social competence and social skills – these are the basic topics of our research project. We explain the problem of related notions such as social interaction and socialization. Followingly we focus on personal characteristics such as predispositions of social and asocial behavior. The last chapter deals with the ontogenetic stage of adolescents, since the members of this age group form the research group. In the empirical part we deal with the relationships between the single components of social intelligence and its reflections in asocial and prosocial behavior. We specifically focused on empathy inquired by the IRI questionnaire (Interpersonal reactivity index), social resonance, social status and self control included in the Giessen test. Social intelligence is i.a. reflected in adequate stress strategies inquired by the questionnaire SVF 78. An integral part of social intelligence is the tendency towards altruism inquired by the questionnaire SIPO. As barriers for the social intelligence development we identified anxiety (questionnaire STAI-X2), impulsivity and psychical disorder (questionnaire SUPSO). Among personal characteristics personality disorder inquired by the test PSSI and neuroticism inquired by the questionnaire NEO appear to be the barriers. This questionnaire concerns the personal characteristics such as extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness and conscientiousness, which we understand as predictors of social intelligence.
