Building up vision of a sustainable organization using the backcasting method: case study

Abstract:

Tato studie analyzuje dosažení vize udržitelnosti fakulty podnikohospodářské. Cílem a hlavním výstupem práce je konstrukce scénářů udržitelnosti organizace metodou backcastingu. Touto metodou pracuji ve vybrané organizaci na výzkumu, který se odehrává během dvou workshopů. Výstupy metody backcastingu je scénář dosažení vize integrace udržitelnosti do výuky na fakultě podnikohospodářské a scénář dosažení klimatické neutrality provozu kampusu FPH do roku 2030. Data (přepisy audio záznamů) získaná během výzkumu navíc zpracovávám metodou tematické analýzy. Výstupy analýzy jsou tematické okruhy určitých aspektů / činností, které se shodují s teoretickými znalostmi o udržitelné univerzitě, organizaci a metodě backcastingu. Práce potvrzuje význam vysokoškolské instituce ve vztahu k udržitelnosti a identifikuje konkrétní činnosti, kterými může fakulta podnikohospodářská přispět k udržitelnému rozvoji.

Abstract:

This study analyses the achievement of the vision of sustainability of the Faculty of Business Administration. The aim and main output of this thesis is the construction of sustainability scenarios of the organization using the method of backcasting. While using this method I conduct research which takes place during two workshops in the organization. The outputs of the backcasting method is a scenario for integrating sustainability into education at the faculty, and a scenario of achieving climate neutrality of the faculty campus by 2030. In addition, I analyse data (audio transcripts) obtained during research using the coding method. The results of the analysis are thematic clusters of aspects / activities that coincide with the theoretical knowledge of a sustainable university, organization, and the method of backcasting. The thesis confirms the importance of the involvement of higher education institutions in sustainability and identifies specific activities by which the Faculty of Business Administration can contribute to sustainable development.
